The plot for Die Another Day is based around diamond smuggling, and begins in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea where Bond meets Zao and Moon who he suspects of selling arms for diamonds. After an action packeted opening sequence, Bond is captured by the Koreans and tortured for 14 months, until one day he is released. However, his release comes at a cost. He is exchanged for the captured General Zao after an American agent was killed after an insider leaked secret information to the Koreans. M suspects it was Bond and revokes his licence to kill, but he denies it, and goes in search of his traitor renegade style.

The trail leads to Cuba, where Bond is looking for answers from Zao. Here he meets up with Jinx who also appears to be looking for Zao. Bond pinpoints Zao to a small clinic, which specializes in DNA surgery. However, Zao flees before Bond can get any answers, but Bond is left with one clue.... diamonds from a chain of Zao's.

The diamonds lead Bond back home, to London where he questions Gustav Graves, Diamond Tycoon and keen fencing champion. Graves' assitant, Miranda Frost is a fellow colleague of 007, working undercover for MI6 to keep tabs on Graves' empire. The pair feud at the fencing club before Graves offers Bond an invite to his Ice Palace in Iceland where he is to unveil his new space project to the world. With new leads, M welcomes 007 back, and he gets kitted out with his usual gadgets by Q. Bond arrives in Iceland looking for more answers. He again meets up with Jinx and things finally start to come together. After snooping around Graves' abobe, it becomes apparent that Graves is actually Colonel Moon from Korea via some DNA surgery. Miranda Frost is revealed as the traitor, passing information onto Moon of whom she knew prior to the DNA surgery.

After Graves' reveals his space program, it becomes apparent the amount of damage he could cause with such a weapon. Graves' sets about killing 007, and sends Zao in his Jaguar to chase the fleeing 007 on ice. Bond manages to kill Zao at the end of a pulsating chase, just as Graves is leaving Iceland for Korea to unleash the power of his space program 'Icarus'. Bond and Jinx follow Graves and Frost to Korea for the climax of the film, where they battle it out on an Anantov Transport Plane to the death.
