Fleming's second novel, and one of the best. This is the ultimate 007. Action, excitement, speed and most prominent in this book, terror. The novel revolves around Mr Big, a SMERSH agent who is smuggling gold from Jamaica to locations in America. He frightens people using voodoo magic, and he turns out to be a terrifying, but intelligent character who is developed well by Fleming.
This book includes numerous exotic locations, and one of the most memorable of 007's girls, Solitare. Helped out by numerous allies which include Felix Leiter, this novel is really a join MI6 and CIA mission. There are numerous references to this book throughout the film series, mainly in Licence To Kill. This book must be read if you are interested in 007, as it is a truly gripping adventure from start to finish.
