Welcome to the Ali's Bond Archive Ian Fleming Book Review Page
In Fleming's ;ast full James Bond novel, James Bond sets out to Jamaica, to pit his wits against Franciso Scaramanga, a deadly hitman, who, along with other villanous crooks, is planning drug shipment, tax fraud and numerous other crimes to make his money. Accompanied by Felix Leiter and the ever loyal Mary Goodnight, James Bond is sent to kill Scaramanga, and goes undercover as Scaramanga's personal assitant. Bond snoops, and finds out all of this interesting information, and that Scaramanga has killed a top Jamaican intelligence agent. All of this comes to a climax on a Jamaican railway, in an epic shootout.
A good book overall, this is by no means the best Bond novel. The final shootout is a bit of an anticlimax, and the book takes a long time to get going. However, the scene where Bond kills Scaramanga is excellent, and the final couple of chapters really close the story well.
