Lotus Esprit - For Your Eyes Only
Once again, the Lotus Esprit makes a welcome and effective appearance in a 007 film. However, this time, Bonduses two of them. One white (above), and one copper coloured. However, the white one didn't last for long. When one of Gonzales' henchmen tries to break into it, it automatically blows up, stunning the audience. Once again, an ingenious invention by Q Branch.
Citroen 2CV - For Your Eyes Only
One of the suprising Bond cars of the series, but probably the most entertaining. It takes part in what I think is one of the best Bond chase. The 2CV jumps over trees, car roof tops, and takes a real battering ! The car was actually yellow, unlike the one above.
Renault Taxi - A View To A Kill
Another great Bond chase was performed in this commandeered Renault taxi. Whilst chasing Mayday, the car is sheered in half, and the roof is sheered off. However, the car still continued to move ! Very comical, and from my point of view, a great Bond chase !
Aston Martin Volante - The Living Daylights
Aston Martin returns for Timothy Dalton's first Bond film. Once again, there is an array of gadgets on view, and the car is used to great effect. Here are a few of the gadgets :
- Laser Beam in front left hubcap
- Bullet Proof windows
- Police band radio
- Rear rocket booster
- Front mounted rockets
- Retractable skis
- Spiked tyres
BMW Z3 Roadster - Goldeneye
The first BMW of many to be used in 007 film, the Z3 was hardly used in Goldeneye. However, it had an array of gadgets, though none of them were used !?
BMW 750iL - Tomorrow Never Dies
Another mobile destruction unit produced by Q Branch. However, you could say this is the most dangerous 007 car EVER ! Controlled by remote control, this BMW is deadly, and highly effective. Here are some of the gadgets on show :
- Hidden Safe
- Retractable chain cutter
- Electronic defence system ( emits 20,000 volt shock to car thiefs )
- Tear gas mechanism
- Metal spike dispenser
- Rockets hidden in sunroof
- Re-inflatable tyres
- Flash grenades
The car was actually driven off the side of a multi storey car-park into a 'Hertz' car rental shop. It was obviously being driven by remote control !!!!
BMW Z8 - The World Is Not Enough
The 3rd BMW to be driven by 007, the Z8 is one of the best. The car has only a few gadgets, but all useful. Again, this can be driven by remote control, and has a surface to air missile system. However, during a battle on a pier with Renard's men, the car is sadly sawn in half by a giant rotating blade suspended underneath a helicopter.
Aston Martin Vanquish - Die Another Day
In James Bond's latest outing, he is equipped with the amazing Aston Martin Vanquish. However, this car is completely different to any other car driven by 007 in that it is invisible to the naked eye. Using heat sensitive technology, Q Branch developed the car so that 007 could drive through enemy territory unseen. However, Zao's Jaguar is equipped with technology that combats this, hence him being able to test the car to it's limits in the spectacular ice chase. Other gadgets include and ejector seat, missile launchers, machines guns and plenty more hidden extras, making this one of the most well equipped James Bond cars ever !
